30 Days Of Lists: Week 1

Last week I mentioned that I was partaking in a fun blog project called 30 Days of Lists. I had no idea just how much fun it would be!

Originally, I wasn’t planning on making a special book for this project. I always keep a makeshift smashbook on hand to jot down ideas, stash magazine clippings in, or take notes about projects I’m planning. So I figured I would just add to that. But as it turned out, I only had three pages left so it wasn’t going to be enough for this project. And once I saw the beautiful books some other bloggers were making, I was longing to do some scrapbooking!

So I made a book. At a yard sale years ago I found four vintage albums (the kind with the cellophane inside to stick your photos under) for a quarter each. They were brand new, still sealed in plastic. Yeah, they came home with me. I used one for the base of my lists book. It’s simple; just fabric covered with a bit of wrapping paper, but it’s exactly what I want. Once the outside was done, I made pages for the rest of the days as well, so now I just have to fill them in and embellish!

My page for days 1 and 2.

It was so nice to scrapbook again. Before this, I hadn’t made any pages in almost two years! Being so busy with other arts and crafts, I’ve mainly switched to digital scrapbooking (using sites like Shutterfly or Blurb), and it was incredibly refreshing to sit down for two hours after my little miss went to bed, spread all my supplies on the living room floor, and just make something! I am hooked all over again.

Days 3 and 4.                                Days 5, 6, and 7.

So needless to say, I’m loving this project! Each day is like it’s own little Christmas present in my inbox with a new list prompt. I’m so glad I decided to partake!

So Much To Do, So Little Time

I really need a stop time button. I have five major art projects to finish before Christmas, and while I am steadily working on them, time is flying by!

And in case I wasn’t busy enough, my brain has a major hankering to revamp my blog. I’ve been blogging for about six months now and I want a change. Don’t get me wrong, I love my little blog but it isn’t entirely where I’d like it to be with both the look and content. So as usual, I’ve made a list of things to change, add, tweak, etc! In a perfect world, I’d love to have my re-launch for the new year. . .but I don’t want to set that goal and be disappointed. So I’ve decided to have it done by the end of January, which gives me a MUCH larger window to work with.

So besides art and blog thoughts, what have I been up to?

My almost-year-old has been on HUGE kick of lining up things like cards, blocks, Legos, anything she can find, in ‘paths’ all across the house. She is very proud of her handiwork. And then does not want to clean them up and ‘ruin what I made!!!’ *cue hysterical tears*. There are many days lately where the floor remains hidden until bedtime. Ahhh, to be three.

All my photos for the year are here!!!! I give a lot of photos as gifts, and order our Christmas cards through Shutterfly, so this was a jump-up-and-down moment when my hubs brought them in from the post office.

And lastly. . .my daughter asked me to build her a skeleton while playing playdough the other day. . .

Annnnnnd this is why I’m a 2D artist, NOT a 3D artist.

We just got our Christmas tree this weekend (since it was the ONLY weekend before Christmas that we have free) so today it’s time to spiff up the house with holiday decor! Keep an eye out for pictures later this week!

Family Photo Shoot

Saturday morning we had our yearly family photos done. Fall is my absolute favorite time for taking outdoor photos. The colors, the atmosphere; it’s just perfection.

We always go to Ambient Light Photography by Mary Baxter. I have known her for fifteen years now, and besides being an absolutely wonderful woman, she is so talented. If you’re local in NH, definitely book with her! I just love her portraits.

I know I’m her mother so I’m extremely biased, but my daughter is such a beauty. I just every inch of her little face! I can’t believe how big she is this year. Which is so cliche, and also entirely true. She’s gotten so tall, her hair so long; she’s just growing right up!

Now that our family photos are taken, I can dive into massive Shutterfly projects – another yearly task I do. Putting together a family ‘yearbook’, designing our Christmas card, among other gifts and new prints for the home. It’s quite a task, but I love it. I just love photographs.
