WIP Wednesday

I’m still rolling steadily along with Christmas presents. Down to my final six! Which sounds kinda scary when I think about the fact that Christmas is in less than four weeks. I got this?! I mean, YEAH, I got this!

puppy front

puppy back

Most recently finished is this little puppy plush! Made for a very special little boy I know. I realized afterward that I totally forgot to include a tail when making the pattern! Whoops…thinking I’ll cut out a dark blue piece and give him a 2D tail hot glued on the back.

kitty plush

This pile of pieces is on it’s way to becoming a cute little kitty plush! I based my pattern off a Pusheen image I found online, and customized the colors to suit the little girl it’s going to.

zelda painting

Oh, the Zelda painting. I am still loving it, but hating what an incredibly SLOW painter I am. It’s not so much a complaint as a realization of reality. Luckily I’m almost done.

zelda closeup

And now, a little art babble with this close up. First off, let me tell you that painting a face in oil paint when her whole head is legit the size of my thumb is HARD. Also, I’m very quickly discovering I have some seriously wacky proportions going on in the head/neck area. That will all be taken care of with the next session. I need to bulk up the left shoulder, move up the cape clasp section – basically just a lot of adjusting the whole area. Then it’s just adding in a some eye detail cleanup, finishing the dress and bow and DONE! Oh, and Gannondorf’s top hand if you look in the big view; apparently I completely forgot to detail the shadow there!

portrait

I sketched this portrait out on Monday, and now I just need to shade it. Followed up by one of her little brother.

Other than these projects I still have my little’s treasure chest to detail, and my hubs oil painting to finish. Go go go!!

What are you working on lately? Making any presents for the holidays?

Life In Photos #21

light through trees

I love taking morning walks with my little miss, especially as the weather cool and autumn approaches. Watching the sun silhouette the tress is such a lovely way to start the day!

feathers

She loves to collect feathers we find on our walks. We love walking up to a little farm nearby, and she trades feathers with the woman who owns it! So cute.

flowers1

Love these little flowers – they grow everywhere along the roads up here. And so fragrant for such tiny blooms.

flowers2

Spotted this growing over a rock wall and it was so beautiful! I love the leaves that look like lily pads.

carrot1

All our carrots were ready to harvest this past week! They turned out great. Some were a bit tiny, but most of them were about 5-6 inches long and very hearty. Yum!

wagon pull

It’s been awhile since I posted some black and whites! I have a few from this wagon ride (though this one with the hubs pulling and her laughing face makes me smile the most!) but I didn’t want to bombard you with all of them. I’m thinking of going in and putting the red wagon back in color – I love reds that pop on a black and white photo!

Instagram RoundUp

instaroundup

Going clockwise…

1. Love my snuggle cat.
2. It is so fabulous that my daughter is old enough to do art WITH me, meaning we can each work on an independent project together. On this particular day, we took over the table with collage things and my paints!
3. Milkshakes were a spur of the moment fabulous decision.
4. Yesterday we took a trip to Boston to visit my brother and take my little miss on her first trip to The New England Aquarium! Expect a photo-heavy post on that this week.

Life In Photos #18

This is a pretty quiet week in photos! But, I spent the majority of this week sick so there was much less picture snapping and much more nap taking. Luckily, I started feeling better on Friday and now am pretty close to 100% again!

magic sorting

We practice sorting geek style in this household! The hubs gives our little all his valueless Magic the Gathering cards and she has quite the collection at this point. We love to dump them out and practice sorting them into piles by not only color, but different background and edging patterns as well. Or she’ll pick the subject (usually, animals) and we sort them out. She loves it!

eli with banana

Oh, Eli and his banana. My kitty Eli has always had a weird obsession with our little’s play food. He loves to bat it around (while ignoring most actual cat toys). He is fixated on the banana, which I find hilarious because he is actually terrified of real bananas! If you set down a banana peel near him, he flattens his ears and body, and tries to slink off as sneakily as possible. It’s so strange. So I guess he must show his dominance to the evil plastic banana.

relaxing on the couch

I snapped this pic of my little watching Milo and Otis one rainy afternoon and I just love it. She looks so grown up. I still call her my baby, the hubs and I both still say things like, “Who will watch the baby?” or “The baby’s sleeping”, but she is definitely not a baby anymore. Damn you parenting cliches and your absolute truth!

Hope the weekend is treating you well!
We’re off to see Guardians of the Galaxy today and I CAN’T WAIT!!!
