Life In Photos #23

Full disclosure – this was a crap week in pictures for me. We had plans EVERY SINGLE day of this week, and my picture taking took a backseat to running around and having playdates and such. All of these pictures are actually from the same day, the one day we managed to take a long walk together!

flowers

These lovely purple flowers looked excellent adorned with morning dew drops.

donkey family

About a fifteen minute walk up the road from us is an adorable little farm. We see the owner walking all the time, and last time she let us know that they have a new baby donkey, and we should just let ourselves in the gate and go visit! I was just as excited as my little. Mama is up front, baby is to the right and Daddy is to the left. Just look how fuzzy that baby is!!

petting donkey

The donkeys were so friendly, nuzzling right up to us, and letting us pet them. Mama (pictured here) was all about getting some attention! The baby was a bit skiddish, and tended to stay close to mum or dad. But eventually he(she?) warmed up too.

orb spinner

My hubby actually took this one for me. I am terrified of spiders, but I definitely can appreciate their value and even yes, sometimes, beauty. I love the yellow and black contrasts on these orb spinners. . .however I was NOT trudging into spider laden territory to get this shot. His back was away from us, so my wonderful hubs climbed up the bank to snap a picture for me. I wish it had been closer, but the angle was really awkward, and I didn’t have my zoom lens. While my hubs isn’t afraid of spiders like me, he wasn’t about to get too close either!

Clockwise, from top left. . .

1. We started our Labor Day morning with pancakes.

2. This little moth decided to join me in a late night painting session.

3. The hubs was out at the MTG Judge Conference this weekend, so we spent Friday and most of Saturday at my bff’s place. They have a great park to go to!

4. I’ve posted lots of book photos as the September edition of Books and Cupcakes Book Photo Challenge is in full swing! The prompt list is below – hop in and join the fun with #booksandcupcakes #bookphotochallenge, and (if you’re taking part in it) use #novelteabookclub to share your snaps with members!

light through trees

I love taking morning walks with my little miss, especially as the weather cool and autumn approaches. Watching the sun silhouette the tress is such a lovely way to start the day!

feathers

She loves to collect feathers we find on our walks. We love walking up to a little farm nearby, and she trades feathers with the woman who owns it! So cute.

flowers1

Love these little flowers – they grow everywhere along the roads up here. And so fragrant for such tiny blooms.

flowers2

Spotted this growing over a rock wall and it was so beautiful! I love the leaves that look like lily pads.

carrot1

All our carrots were ready to harvest this past week! They turned out great. Some were a bit tiny, but most of them were about 5-6 inches long and very hearty. Yum!

wagon pull

It’s been awhile since I posted some black and whites! I have a few from this wagon ride (though this one with the hubs pulling and her laughing face makes me smile the most!) but I didn’t want to bombard you with all of them. I’m thinking of going in and putting the red wagon back in color – I love reds that pop on a black and white photo!

Going clockwise…

1. Love my snuggle cat.
2. It is so fabulous that my daughter is old enough to do art WITH me, meaning we can each work on an independent project together. On this particular day, we took over the table with collage things and my paints!
3. Milkshakes were a spur of the moment fabulous decision.
4. Yesterday we took a trip to Boston to visit my brother and take my little miss on her first trip to The New England Aquarium! Expect a photo-heavy post on that this week.

planning
I finally got a new planner and started using the Post-It method for blog planning. I love it. I now have most of my posts planned through September, and they’re so easy to rearrange if other things come up!

flowers

We saw these gorgeous flowers growing while out for a walk. I don’t actually know the name of the flower, but they are lovely (however quite spiky in the middle).

sign

On another walk I noticed this sign on one of the B&Bs around here and it amused me heavily.

slug

And on yet another walk we spotted this little slug on the edge of the road! My daughter loved it, and gave it that rock to climb on.

We’ve been taking huge walks every morning lately, and I love it. So refreshing, a great way to start the day, and it’s so fun to spot things to take pictures of!

Yesterday we went to the local 4-H Fair, which I love as it’s not too expensive and it’s pretty small. I love big fairs, but sometimes I find them overwhelming. This one only takes about two hours to see everything, which is about perfect with a three year old!

rooster

This rooster has the coolest feathers ever.

pony ride

Having a pony ride ended up being my little’s favorite thing of the day!

ride

However, it’s pretty clear that she loved her first ‘big girl’ ride too!! 😀

1.

You weren’t trying to read, right Mom?
Eli loves his morning sun in the window.

2.

Grampa with a hose + hot sunny weather = happiest three year old ever.

3.

My little loves to pick me dandelions. Even though they’re weeds, they do brighten up the kitchen. Like little sunbursts!

4.

And another in the red boots series. Some field exploration this time. I’m thinking I need to make a story book for my little all about her red boot adventures! Now to think up a plot. . .
