Life In Photos #33

It’s been awhile since a Life In Photos update, and truthfully, it was a much needed break. I love photography dearly, but trying to take pictures enough for a post every week was becoming tedious. Lately, I’ve just been snapping when the mood strikes, or if there is something specific I want to try and capture.

Since it’s been quite a bit since my last post, I’ve actually got lots of photos to kick off my first Life In Photos of 2015! Hope you enjoy some snaps from my daily life (daily life = daughter, kitties, and outdoor adventures).

chillin

She picked TV time in the morning one day, and cozied right up.

stillsnugglebuds

snugglesbuds

These two have been buds since she was an infant. He puts up with all her snuggle antics.

sleepy

We spent New Years with our best friends, and I just can’t resist snapping pics of her new little man when I’m there!

squirrel

A chubby squirrel in a tree during a recent snowstorm. This picture isn’t as crisp as I wanted; I really need to work on steadier hands. I took this from my living room window with my zoom lens haha!

catching snow

Her favorite part of snowstorms? Catching snowflakes on her tongue, and eating the fresh snow.

crows

A cute crow couple! Or maybe BFFs? Either way, they stayed together the entire time they were in the yard, moving from tree to tree.

flying crow

I adore this shot, the main reason being I took it using manual settings! I managed to get the bird in silhouette, with that wing detail peeking through, and I love the light gradient from the clouds.

selfie

And lastly, a selfie! I almost never snap selfies unless they are for a specific tag on IG, but we were outside in the snow, the day was just so lovely, and I felt so incredibly peaceful as the snow was falling down. I wanted to capture it! So I just held up the camera to snap a shot. And funnily enough, I actually love this photo of myself. It was an entirely unplanned picture, yet it captured the moment beautifully for me.

Edgar snuggles

Edgar has always loved our little miss, and I just love it when they get snuggly! Melts my heart.

fort

Who doesn’t love Netflixing from a blanket fort?

eli catnip

I love giving Eli catnip. He sits there and rubs his face all over it, kneading the rug the whole time. Then he gets all jittery, and just starts licking the rug obsessively. Heehee, kitty crack.

lego ballerina

Just a typical morning of Lego play dressed like a ballerina.

happy edgar

After taking down the above blanket fort, the hubs folded the blankets and put them on the coffee table. Edgar moved onto them, and they are his new favorite spot. Luckily, he didn’t mind us moving the stack to our little couch so I can have my coffee table back.

rest

Having a quick rest on one of our morning walks. We often do walks sans shoes. While I’m really ready for fall to be here, I will miss being outside in bare feet!

It was kind of a kitty heavy photo week, but my boys are just so cute!

Instagram RoundUp

Top left, going clockwise. . .

1. Mailing out some happy mail to the winners of my Sailor Moon Bookmark Giveaway, and two more postcards for Postcrossing.

2. The Book Photo Challenge for August is almost done! It’s been a fun one!

3. I’m attempting to make felt plushies for the first time as Christmas presents. We’ll see how it goes.

4. I had Friday night all to myself as the hubs was out at FNM, and the little miss was off at a sleepover with her cousins at Grandma’s house. I took the time to get some serious blog work and planning done.

I’m so happy September is just about here! Despite fall not officially starting until the 23rd, I’ll be rolling out my new fall header paintings tomorrow. September is fall enough for me!

1.

You weren’t trying to read, right Mom?
Eli loves his morning sun in the window.

2.

Grampa with a hose + hot sunny weather = happiest three year old ever.

3.

My little loves to pick me dandelions. Even though they’re weeds, they do brighten up the kitchen. Like little sunbursts!

4.

And another in the red boots series. Some field exploration this time. I’m thinking I need to make a story book for my little all about her red boot adventures! Now to think up a plot. . .

Watercolors

I spent $1.50 on some watercolors the other day when I was at Michaels getting myself some art supplies, and it was a darn good investment. My little miss has been absolutely loving them!

This is also a great way to continue her learning about mixing colors to make other colors. Our other method of doing that is when she has yogurt for lunch, we dye it with food coloring and practice mixing colors that way.

I also let her sprinkle some salt over her some of her paintings so she could see the effect it makes – it has become her new favorite way to paint! We’re going to use some of them as backings for some Christmas presents which I’ll reveal after the holidays.

All in all, I’m happy with that $1.50 spent!

Has Anyone Seen My Head?

Because I’m pretty sure it fell off somewhere with all the running around I’m doing this week. We are going on a big family camping trip (our annual family reunion) and between prepping for that, regular errands, a new commitment I’ve made with my best bud, and taking my little girl to the beach often, this week is just nuts!!!

Very happy with her bright yellow mushroom she found at Grammy’s house!

Luckily, I’m feeling a little more organized on the home front because A: I’ve managed to keep the house in relative order this week, which is good since my brother and his girlfriend are staying with us overnight before we leave for camping. I actually don’t have much to clean up before their arrival! And B: I’ve got my lists made. I can not function without lists. I write them for everything – groceries, chores I need to do, projects I have, and especially for packing. I think it’s combination of my inability to remember things (besides loads of useless trivia) and that visually seeing things laid out in an organized fashion calms my brain. I’m definitely not a neat freak, but I do like organization (hence all our Blu-Rays in perfect alphabetical order).

My lists for our upcoming camping trip. . .I go a little overboard.

We’ve spent tons of time at the beach this week too – it’s been so hot up here in NH (90+ every day!), and I can’t think of a better place than the beach with it’s cool-but-not-TOO-cold water and lake breezes. . .ahhhhhh.

Outta my way, things to do!   Quite happy with her shovel of sand.

This past Sunday we went down to see our favorite cousins and their gorgeous new house they just bought! So glad they moved up to NH so we can see each other more often. They were kind enough to offer up their pool for use, and we had a blast!

Loving the pool!

So the blog will be silent for at least a few days while we go camping, recover from camping, and get the house all back in order and back to everyday life. I’ve got some posts brewing – both about shopping. One on indie shopping and all the AMAZING things I’ve gotten so far from indie stores, and one on yard sales and the crazy cool things you can find for next to nothing! And of course, a post or two about our camping trip will be in the works. Enjoy your week, and stay cool!
