Playing Catch-Up

It’s Monday. Which I know is supposed to be Blogger Portrait day. But I am so behind! This past weekend was so crazy busy, and it was so full of joy, spectacular times, amazing things and more that I wouldn’t change it for the world. But unfortunately, it did put a damper on being caught up with blog posts. Normally I’ll spend time on Sunday writing up posts for the week, but by the time our daughter went to bed last night, I was ready to crash with her. My body is certainly suffering the fun weekend after effects – woke up with a headcold this morning!

What was so great about this weekend? Don’t you worry, I’ll have a post on it – I’m just waiting for some photos to be available online and then I can get on writing it up.

So today, I just wanted to pop in to say stay tuned next Monday for Blogger Portraits to resume, and that this week’s posts may be a little sporadic!

Until next time,

So Much To Do, So Little Time

I really need a stop time button. I have five major art projects to finish before Christmas, and while I am steadily working on them, time is flying by!

And in case I wasn’t busy enough, my brain has a major hankering to revamp my blog. I’ve been blogging for about six months now and I want a change. Don’t get me wrong, I love my little blog but it isn’t entirely where I’d like it to be with both the look and content. So as usual, I’ve made a list of things to change, add, tweak, etc! In a perfect world, I’d love to have my re-launch for the new year. . .but I don’t want to set that goal and be disappointed. So I’ve decided to have it done by the end of January, which gives me a MUCH larger window to work with.

So besides art and blog thoughts, what have I been up to?

My almost-year-old has been on HUGE kick of lining up things like cards, blocks, Legos, anything she can find, in ‘paths’ all across the house. She is very proud of her handiwork. And then does not want to clean them up and ‘ruin what I made!!!’ *cue hysterical tears*. There are many days lately where the floor remains hidden until bedtime. Ahhh, to be three.

All my photos for the year are here!!!! I give a lot of photos as gifts, and order our Christmas cards through Shutterfly, so this was a jump-up-and-down moment when my hubs brought them in from the post office.

And lastly. . .my daughter asked me to build her a skeleton while playing playdough the other day. . .

Annnnnnd this is why I’m a 2D artist, NOT a 3D artist.

We just got our Christmas tree this weekend (since it was the ONLY weekend before Christmas that we have free) so today it’s time to spiff up the house with holiday decor! Keep an eye out for pictures later this week!

Connect With Me

Has Anyone Seen My Head?

Because I’m pretty sure it fell off somewhere with all the running around I’m doing this week. We are going on a big family camping trip (our annual family reunion) and between prepping for that, regular errands, a new commitment I’ve made with my best bud, and taking my little girl to the beach often, this week is just nuts!!!

Very happy with her bright yellow mushroom she found at Grammy’s house!

Luckily, I’m feeling a little more organized on the home front because A: I’ve managed to keep the house in relative order this week, which is good since my brother and his girlfriend are staying with us overnight before we leave for camping. I actually don’t have much to clean up before their arrival! And B: I’ve got my lists made. I can not function without lists. I write them for everything – groceries, chores I need to do, projects I have, and especially for packing. I think it’s combination of my inability to remember things (besides loads of useless trivia) and that visually seeing things laid out in an organized fashion calms my brain. I’m definitely not a neat freak, but I do like organization (hence all our Blu-Rays in perfect alphabetical order).

My lists for our upcoming camping trip. . .I go a little overboard.

We’ve spent tons of time at the beach this week too – it’s been so hot up here in NH (90+ every day!), and I can’t think of a better place than the beach with it’s cool-but-not-TOO-cold water and lake breezes. . .ahhhhhh.

Outta my way, things to do!   Quite happy with her shovel of sand.

This past Sunday we went down to see our favorite cousins and their gorgeous new house they just bought! So glad they moved up to NH so we can see each other more often. They were kind enough to offer up their pool for use, and we had a blast!

Loving the pool!

So the blog will be silent for at least a few days while we go camping, recover from camping, and get the house all back in order and back to everyday life. I’ve got some posts brewing – both about shopping. One on indie shopping and all the AMAZING things I’ve gotten so far from indie stores, and one on yard sales and the crazy cool things you can find for next to nothing! And of course, a post or two about our camping trip will be in the works. Enjoy your week, and stay cool!

Busy Busy Busy

The above photo was the sunset on July 5. Being so mad busy this month make it even more important to me to stop and notice the little things.

This month is so jam packed sometimes I don’t even know where to start! Between working on portrait commissions, planning for birthday parties and camping trips, and a few other plans we already have there isn’t a single weekend free this month! So my blog posts may be a bit spread out compared to the last couple weeks.

This past weekend was filled with art, board games, good friends, and all around great times. I’ve got some projects in store this week to do with my little miss, so there will definitely be posts about that at some point.

I hope everyone’s Independence Day went well. I happily paid the insane price of $4.00 for my yearly piece of fried dough. . .it’s just sooooo delicious!! And I can justify the splurge since it is only once a year. . .yummo.

Chowing down on some fried dough!

Our town does a big celebration at our rec center field – there are booths, a raffle, live music with dancing – it’s really a great time! My little miss loved dancing with Daddy, and her Mimi (my mom) came up to enjoy the evening with us too. Which of course ended in fireworks!

What’s everyone up to this week? Exciting plans for the summer?
