Hello there! I’m Kayly, an artsy stay-at-home mum residing at the bottom of the mountains in New Hampshire. With a three-year-old daughter running loose, my days are filled with playtime, arts and crafts, and lots of time outdoors. A definite night owl, I tend to spend my nights making art until the wee hours of the morning.
I created My Open Sketchbook as a way to share the things I love. Usually, the hodge podge that is my brain consists of arts and crafts, indie shopping, general geekery, parenting shenanigans, some personal confessions, and the occasional baked good.

- I am not a girly-girl. I’ve always been a tom-boy choosing playing in the woods and video games over hair and makeup. As an adult, I’m learning I like embracing some girlish aspects (in the form of mascara, blush, and sundresses).
- I love listening to different accents and languages. Despite having a rather introverted brain, I love how many dialects you can hear walking through a city.
- Art has been a huge part of my life. My dad is an artist, while my mom has been hand making cards and scrapbooking for as long as I can remember. I started my love for art with anime (most notably Sailor Moon) back when I was eleven, and I’ve been drawing ever since.
- I am terrified of spiders. Pathetically so. It ranges from running and shrieking like a lunatic, to hysterical tears (seriously) if one is on me.
- I don’t understand how fresh brewed coffee can have both one of the best scents and one of the worst tastes. It truly baffles me. Needless to say I like tea, with milk and sugar, please.
- Strangely enough given that I was pretty tom-boyish, the only career I have ever wanted was to be a stay at home mom. I am lucky enough to be able to live out that dream, and I am thankful every day for it.
Thanks for stopping by!
